Jon Persitz
Chief Operating Officer
To say Jon Persitz comes from a musical family is an understatement. He’s the first American-born generation of a family of Russian classical musicians and began studying piano at an early age under his mother, Julia, a concert violinist.
Though surrounded by music from birth, it wasn’t until his mother brought him to a commercial recording session that his interest in music for film and television was truly sparked. He went on to study piano performance at the University of Minnesota, but - ironically, given his Russian heritage - couldn’t stand the cold and moved to Los Angeles just three days after graduating.
Since then, Jon’s compositions have been featured across television, film, radio, and commercials, with over 1,000 published works to date.
His curiosity about music editing first sparked after watching Breaking Bad, where he began noticing the precision of the music work and the impact of specific editorial choices. After watching the end credits, he came across a role he hadn’t seen before: “music editor.” Curious, he looked up Jason Newman, found the JTN site, and cold-called to pick his brain. The rest is history.
He joined JTN Music as a studio assistant, learning the company from the ground up before gradually shifting his focus toward the operational and strategic side of the industry.
As COO at JTN Music, Jon leads and supports the team while continuously refining workflows and strengthening the company from within. He’s passionate about collaboration and building systems that allow creative teams to do their best work.
With the launch of JTN Music Canada in 2025, Jon also stepped into the role of Vice President, helping lead the company’s expansion into music supervision, sync, and original composition. He’s excited for this next chapter, extending JTN’s collaborative, music-first approach into the Canadian market.
